The kitchen flooring is in, and here’s what it looks like. It’s rather hard to photograph because there are so many shade variations and the flash depth, but the most correct look for it is right at the bottom edge

yay, new floors! (soon)
The appointment has been made! Wood floors next week.. I’m actually excited because that’s pretty much THE last real big part of the remodel. Now, have to buy kitchen vinyl and have it installed and I’ll be “done”. Pics to come

Are we there yet?

Sheet rock is up as of yesterday and I must say that it’s looking really good. Both rooms (kitchen and living room) feel about 2x as large as when they originally started.
It’s difficult to calculate exactly how it feels, but technically the kitchen gains 35 square feet (as shown by the 5 x 7 space where the old wood flooring used to be (as part of the “dining” room) and the living room gains 25.5 square feet (18″ x 17 feet). That doesn’t however take into effect the fact that the wall between the living room and hallway was demolished, making it “feel” like one big 22 foot long room instead of it’s actual 17 foot size.

Let the Hammer fall.
Demolition of the wall between the living room and dining room has started. The goal is to make one straight wall between the two rooms, adding 25 sf to the kitchen, while adding 34 sf to the living room by eliminating the useless “dining room”…
